Our curriculum is designed so students master core academic content while making connections across curricular areas 和 developing thinking 和 reasoning skills. 老师 use the workshop model in reading 和 写作, with targeted 小组 instruction. There is an emphasis on nonfiction reading closely integrated with interdisciplinary units as well as upon appropriate reading around individual student interests 和 passions. Students who need additional skill work in reading may receive 小组 support from our Reading Specialist.

数学中的桥梁 emphasizes skill acquisition 和 application of 数学 skills. All teachers use pre- 和 post- unit assessments to accurately determine appropriate placement 和 differentiation. The curriculum is regularly compacted 和 extended; students may be accelerated by grade or by unit as needed.

Recognized as one of the nation’s top programs in gifted 数学ematics education, these programs introduce advanced 数学 content 和 focus on creative problem solving 和 reasoning. Ricks develops interdisciplinary units based upon Next Generation Science St和ards(NGSS) 和 National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) st和ards. An Environment of Risk-Taking, Openness, 和 Self Awareness

We believe the key to successful academic growth is integrating social-emotional learning with academic learning. We believe how children learn is as important as what they learn. 在学业和社会上都取得成功, children need to learn a set of social 和 emotional skills that include cooperation, 自信, 责任, 同理心, 和自我控制. Students will participate in "Morning Meeting" so as to start each day on a positive note building a strong sense of classroom community. This will allow students to approach learning with open minds 和 a willingness to take academic risks. Students will be involved in planning service learning 项目 和 kindness 项目 along with developing their social-emotional comprehension 和 competencies through targeted lessons for the whole group, 小组, 个人需求. Students in 1st-4th grades will enjoy multiple unit related field trips 和 in-school visitors to enhance the learning experience including all-class birthday celebrations to Valentine's Day performances at a retirement center, from multi-age reading buddies to our annual talent show, 建造小妖精陷阱和更多.
