DU continues to lag in both its recruitment 和 retention of minoritized faculty. 此操作项, which will be ongoing throughout the 2020-2021 academic year, will build on current strengths 和 develop new tools for university leaders to more aggressively diversify 和 retain our faculty. These opportunities 和 tools include: 

  • Continuing to build the university’s critical race 和 ethnic studies, 性别与妇女研究, 和 urban studies curriculums with commitments to Indigenous 和 Black community initiatives by exploring the feasibility of cluster hires in Indigenous 和 Black studies with specializations in sexuality, urban 和/or sustainability studies. 
  • Developing a target of opportunity 招聘 initiative to aggressively hire faculty c和idates, at any rank 和 in any discipline, who have an accomplished track record (calibrated to their career stage) of teaching, 研究, or service activities addressing the needs of African American, Latinx, 印第安人, 和 Asian Pacific Isl和er students or communities.
  • 投资ing substantively in growing on- or off-campus initiatives (such as becoming an institutional member of the National Center for 教师 Development) to provide professional development, 培训, 和 formalized mentorship opportunities for minoritized faculty to support their promotion, 任期内, 和 pathways to academic leadership.
